2024

- A Celebration of Antonia - Sculptures, paintings and drawings by Antonia Spowers (1934 to 2020) for viewing and purchase - took place Sunday 30th June, 2024, 11am to 6pm - Antonia Spowers was considered a brilliant sculptor. Born in Yorkshire in 1934, she made Wales her home in 1996 and was dedicated to the Welsh art community until she died in 2020. She designed a studio into the house she built in Presteigne and worked predominantly in wood, glass, acrylic, metal and paper. She was passionate about the environment and much of her inspiration came from the Welsh countryside. She exhibited all over the UK but her favourite galleries were run by friends in Brecon, Machynlleth, Hay-on-Wye, Caersus.
The Hymns was honoured to provide the location for this very special celebratory exhibition. Antonia left behind a range of sculptures, from table-top pieces to large outdoor installations, and a fantastic collection of drawings and paintings, all of which were being sold, via this exhibition, to support young Welsh artists.
- Herefordshire Art Week & creative workshops, private view, talks and dinner - Saturday 7th to Sunday 15th September, 2024 - 22 artists from www.radnorshireartists.com exhibited and led art & pottery workshops, a private view, a talk on Wordsworth in the Radnor Valley, and a Dinner in the Exhibition.
